West Orange

Located at the peak of the Watchung Mountains, West Orange offers two nature Reservations – South Mountain and Eagle Rock – and is located 12 miles west of New York City, an ideal distance for commuters. Its proximity to Newark Airport and its downtown make this town attractive to a diverse and international population. A notable resident was Thomas Edison who developed the Edison Laboratories which are still standing and are certainly worth a tour. The first planned community in the USA originated here – Llewelyn Park developed in 1853 offering country retreats for the wealthy families of NYC. This is still a beautiful place to live in today!
