Three towns share the name Caldwell, given in honor of Rev Caldwell, a patriot in the revolutionary days. North, West and (simply) Caldwell each have their own administration and schools but are often referred to as The Caldwells, even by road signs. Their proximity to NYC is a great attraction – 16 miles approx – and public bus is available to Port Authority. There is a great school system, as well as the Essex County College and Caldwell University. In 2017 North Caldwell was listed as the 34 th richest town in the US while in 2010 Caldwell was ranked as the 3rd best place to live in NJ! Fun fact - North Caldwell has also been used as film set for The Sopranos!
